Second session of the pairs tournament I'm playing, this time I managed to make 48% (yay/sarcastically). I'll probably post some more hands in a little while.

I voted "pass as accept my fate" since I would have bid 4NT rather than 5♣ if I wanted to show two places to play. 5♣ sounds more like "I have primary cluc support and my 4♦ bid was intended as a fitshowing bid".

If you have the agreement that 4♦ always shows lots of diamonds then "pass and leave it to partner" would be my vote.

Would have bid 5D the first time, would have bid 5D the 2nd time, would bid 5D now. I would say that trying to play clubs is a big error.

I'd rate jumping to 6♦ at this point as better than passing. LOL

In fact, I once experienced the "joys" of playing on the side suit of a major 84 and -1700 later (dummy got tapped) I realized what had happened.

Having bid the way you did, pass is the only bid.

Did you describe your hand? Yes, maybe not 100% correct.
Were you willing to play 5C? I would guess so.

Your partner is now the captain, because he knowes the most
about both hands.
You decided to describe your and that you leave it to partner
after you finished the description of your hand, and I would
just follow my plan.

I dont know, if I would have bid 4D, maybe, maybe not.
I guess I would need a stronger hand.
I dont know, if I would have bid 5C, maybe, maybe not.

My hand has been totally misdescribed so far.

If I wanted to be at the 5-level (I would), I'd hav bid 5♦ before. I'm still bidding 5♦ now, see above. Partner haven't got the input to be captain now. It could of course be correct to play in clubs, but partner will pass far too often when 5♦ is the best spot (which it rates to be).

This hand has to play in diamonds, and I would have bid 5 the first time, mainly because of the club fit. Its clear to bid 5♦ now, but I will sell out to 5♥.
