I'd be a little worried that partner will think I have 3 hearts if I bid 3.

3NT, I think you are just outsmarting yourself otherwise, even though admittedly 1 stopper will not be enough sometimes.

There was I think almost this exact same hand in one of the RP bidding polls a few years ago where he argued for 4, although I think that was imps. Just food for thought.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

3 looks normal. Its MPs - this is forcing and the auction isn't over.

3H, don't see why this shows 3. We can still get to 3N via 3S-3N.

3NT for me. I don't know if he is right, but my partner will see me with three hearts if I call 3. Anyway, 3NT seems a good spot.

3. I'd normally have bid 2 with inv+ and 3-card support. So partner shouldn't expect more than Hx. Over 3 from partner I rebid 3NT.
Kind regards,
Harald

Can I bid 5D hoping this is a top as no other contract makes game?

I can see there is a parallel world out there.

Why is 3H forcing?

You have shown about 10+ points and you have found a fit. You can just pass if you have a minimum. If it was your intention of showing a 3-card limit raise with side diamonds, well, you know you have a nice double fit with partner so just bid game.

It seems useful to have more forcing bids than just 3S. For example, here you don't want to bid 3S as it leaves partner completely helpless.

I'm not going to complicate this. I have an easy 3NT bid, so that's what I do.

I disagree with Han, it is forcing because otherwise you would had bid 2 the round before.

I also feel like 3 shows 3+ cards, I'd be the only one to try 3 followed by 4.

You could have supported directly with 2 competitive or 2 inv+ with 3-card support. So this should be forcing. Se also Han's comment above. Sure 3NT is also possible, but I prefer to let partner participate in the decision.
Kind regards,
Harald
