You did not provide the vulnerability or the form of scoring.

In any event, on Hand #1 I pass 5. I have a reasonable chance of going plus against 5.

On the second hand, I double 4. On a heart lead, we should be able to tap out the opponents. While it is possible that they will make 4, it is more likely that we will beat 4 a lot on a heart lead.

1: Pass, and be happy that you may have pushed them to a level where you have a chance to set them. It's possible or even likely they are down, but since partner could be making this bid on just about anything including some light hands with lots of trumps, you are in no position to make that judgment.

I vote for the player who keeps bidding 1 more when he has no business doing so?

I think the blame goes mor to the previuos bidding

If you have a diamond preempt bid it,

If you have a red 2 suiter show it.

1. Pass. push well done.
2. I hope I don't have to double expecting down 1: pard's 2QT +2xS. Just to keep partner from bidding on.

I don't understand why you should not expect to beat 4 on the second hand.

It turns out to be trivially easy to beat it one trick, and, on partner's obvious diamond lead, 4 may go down a lot.

You are a minimum with an extra heart. You will help them play the hand better in many cases with this trump holding (KQJ won't always be on your right!) And partner does not show a 19 count for his bid, it could be just about any hand with long hearts where he thinks bidding is right. I mean if you think doubling is right on this, all you are saying is you should always double with 4 trumps that aren't small cards, because outside of that you have negative defense on this hand.

Partner should have bid 4 to bring us into the picture, Fluffy is right. So it's hard to say the actual hand means much, although I know how you love to use it to justify your choice whenever it would have worked :(

Partner opened the bidding. I expect that heart leads will tap them out and that they will lose control of the hand. On the actual hand, partner has an obvious diamond lead which works quite nicely.

Partner did not have a 19 count - he had what he said he had. They are going down. I suspect that this would be true on a vast majority of hands which are consistent with the auction.

One could run a simulation to generate a lot of hands that are consistent with the auction, but it would require individual analysis to determine the fate of 4 on each such hand. On the actual hand, 4 is going down several tricks.

Give some 'down a lot' where partner wouldn't double himself. I would double when a penalty bonanza is likely/possible. But for make/-1/-2 all expectable outcomes?
Ma-a-ybe MP to guard our game. I have my 1+QT for a 1-raise what more? ?
