1) When is the next meeting?

2) Quite a list of TDs you had in attendance? However did you manage to keep some semblance of order? We have enough trouble here in Unit 430 with our twelve Board Members...

Please come back to the live game; I directed enough online during COVID for several lifetimes.

You're right, its tough to hold a meeting online ...... but the protocol being used here seems to work. Those who want to speak (take the floor) during the meeting must enter an exclamation point (!) to make remarks, or a question mark (?) to ask a question and wait their turn to be called on by the moderator. While waiting to be called on, the speaker is asked to enter his remarks/questions into the chat bar so that all that is left to do when he/she is called upon, is to press ENTER. When a speaker's remarks or questions are complete, they are to enter GA (go ahead) and the next person will be called on to take the floor. Side chat between attendees is done in whispers (private chat) so as not to disrupt the flow, and Lobby chat is turned off so that it doesn't obscure the thread of the meeting chat.

The TD's Coalition meets in our Private Club where we are able to preserve a chat log as a record of the meeting. This, in turn, serves as the notes from which the Minutes are published. This works in any online location where a log of the chat can be preserved.

This is a meeting format/protocol that has migrated from another Bridge site where it was used for successfully for many years before the site became defunct. I suspect it was not invented there. however. Gweny is quite practiced at using this format and runs a good meeting. The BBO TD's have picked it up very quickly, and, as you can see from reading the minutes, this remarkable group of volunteer Directors is exceptional in their interest, intent and willingness to contribute to the effort.

What's our secret? Good software, good format, good leadership and cooperative, engaged membership!

Frosty
