Well clearly it's up for interpretation and is just a question on how you see the guidelines of the post. If this is a trick question then it's a stupid one so it must be in re how people interpret what's being asked. I doubt there's a real answer.

The answer you're supposed to get is 3 (I think.)

If you've done this sort of exercise before, though, you get a different answer ...

kfay, I think you'd better quit while you're ahead. There is a trick, but it has nothing to do with the wording of the question.

Count the F's:

The idea is to read the sentence, not to read the words. Those who exceed a certain level in English won't notice the "of" and will count less than 6 f's. If a Finnish text were given, we would all get the correct number.

If you read a book you don't have time to count all the letters either. Pattern recognition helps there.
