When I have a new p for a tourney, one of us post a cc but p can't view it until the game starts. In speedball this is a bigger problem than in most tourneys. Can you fix this so that we can discuss a cc before the game starts?

If you get partner's email, you can mail him the CC file. Then he can load it and look at it.

There should be another way of doing it, without revealing your e-mail ID to a pick up partner.

It's somewhat complex to specify the functionality. Maybe something like this:

- In the pop-up menu that appears when you right-click another user, there will be a function "send CC". When you select that, you are prompted to select a CC from your conv_cards directory.
- After you send the CC, the recipient gets a notification, and the CC will appear in his conv_card_inbox folder.

Alternatively, when you have registered for a tourney as a pair, the CC that is uploaded with "use" is shared between the two partners. This requires that neither p is playing and that neither is registered for a tourney that starts before said tourney.

The Flash version of BBO will contain some massive improvements in this area some of which will be available in the existing Windows BBO client (you won't have to download a new version).

The (new) basic premise is that a convention card belongs to a partnership.

That may sound obvious, but apparently this is something that the programmers of online bridge sites (including me) had not figured out until recently (at least I am not aware of any other sites that approach CCs in this way).

When 2 players "use" a convention card, the system will remember this. When those players play together again in the future, their convention card will be registered automatically.

The Flash version of BBO will make it easy for both members of the partnership to review/edit their (shared) convention card at any time. There won't be much in the way of improvement in this area with the Windows client (at least not for a while) which I realize was the original purpose of this thread.

Some other changes in this area that will be available in the Flash version:

- Each BBO member will be able to establish his "favorite convention card". Members will be able to look at each other's favorite convention cards via a button in the profile display.

- BBO members will be able to maintain their own collection of "private convention cards" which are not bound to any particular partnership.

- There is a nice interface for various CC management functions (thanks to Uday whose suggestions for improvements to my original prototype were great!).

- The process of establishing a convention card with a given partner is very simple.

- There will be yet another new type of convention card introduced in the Flash version of BBO (you will be able to look at such CCs but not edit them if you have the Windows client). We have tried to design the software so that it will be easy to add other types of CCs in the future (for example the time will probably come in which we offer a type of CC that looks just like an ACBL CC).

I am hoping that the new version of the Flash client (which will contain all of the above features plus a lot more) will be announced in Forums by this time next week.

Intuitively, I like the core concept of tracking partnerships as distinct entities, with the obvious cavaet that there are a lot of different partnerships out there to keep track of...

One quick question: When you are talking about a Convention Card, do you mean a traditional graphic style CC or a more complex system encompassing "Full Disclosure" type functionality?

As I mentioned in the past, long term, I believe that the primary editor for a FD type Convention Card needs to look very much like a traditional graphical convention card. (If the users enable "Jacoby Transfers" this would enable a Jacoby module in Full Disclosure)

My suspicion is that it is way to early to be enabling this type of functionality. However, I hope whatever design that you've chosen is flexible enough to support merging in the Full Disclosure cards at a later point in time.

Both. A convention card is just a file. In order to support a given type of convention card in BBO, little more is required than creating a program (which could be a web page) that can render a file of the type in question.

Some CC types (like FD) might contain info that allows the software to do things like auto-alert bids. That is a whole other subject that we have not really addressed yet in the Flash client.

I was playing a team match the other night and my partner announced she had posted our cc. When I clicked the button for "ours" it just brought up the generic SAYC card, but we are a longtime partnership playing 2/1. Is it possible she didn't post it correctly, or is there a secret to my looking at our card.
