Yes. This is one of those movies that grows on you the more times you watch it - and the music is almost hypnotic. The sirens singing go to sleep little baby will turn you into a toad if you listen too long.......

I love the music in that movie too. More than I loved the movie.

Songcatcher (while quite a different movie) also has similar great music.

I was just subjected to one of the worst movies I have ever seen: Dodgeball. There was only one redeeming scene. The only movie that I can think of (that I've seen) that was worse was that robot movie with Robin Williams. I've completely blocked the second one out (it was so bad I forgot the name), so hopefully I can block this one out, too.

Speaking of the Coen-Brothers;

My all time favourite is "Miller's Crossing" . A gangster movie with an excellent plot (with no silly holes or ooopsies), and great actors. (Albert Finney, Steve Buscemi and Gabriel Byrne, to mention a few.)

And for a rainy, hungover day, there is "Burn after reading". Not a deep movie as such, but still entertaining in a slightly intellectual way. And it contains the greatest laugh I had in years.

I know this is slightly of topic,(recent films) but speaking of the coen brothers oevre i enjoyed their first film the most. For those who havent seen it go rent Blood simple. Cheers!

Since some recommendations have been made on old movies (from the 90's) I'm gonna recommend (hope no one else has) 'Groundhog Day'. Excellent movie. You can watch it in youtube, but don't tell anyone I said so.

ditto, as I recall this was my number one movie of the year it came out.....
must admit I liked this one much more than many of their others listed here.

Agree -- in terms of big laughs, it's surprising that "Raising Arizona" hasn't been mentioned yet.

The grocery scene store with the dogs in hot chase and the "1000 Missisipi..." with the old timer have got to be one of funniest shots commited to film in recent times...

Saw Avatar in 3D last night and found it mighty entertaining. Sure, it's stuffed with cliches about the the military / greedy corporate nexus, pagan / Hippiesque religious beliefs, but it's eye popping all right...

I feel like such a dork, but Avatar was the most rewarding movie experience I have had. I even whispered to myself a "thank you" to the folks who made this movie. I cannot speak highly enough of the movie.

I am looking forward to watch avatar, friends of mine told me it was too long for a 3d movie and they finished with a headache, but other that that, it was really great.

People talk very highly of "burn after reading", but I didn't laugh at all when I Saw it, not my sense of hummor I guess.

It certainly wasn't the Coen brother's best and definitely a little light weight. It did tickle me though -- have you seen any other films by them?

Saw District 9 last night. Was rather disappointed. The special effects are good, but the plot is pretty awful. That's kinda what I'm expecting from Avatar. (Saw the South Park spoof of Avatar here.)
