After playing online for four years I think I want to try live bridge. But I'm a bit nervous. I am intermediate, prefer 2/1 udca and not being yelled at, even if I revoke. Anyone interested in a Saturday or Sunday afternoon game?

Would like to try a major raise structure other than bergen (not a deal breaker) and maybe weak nt also not a deal breaker.

The ACBL website lists local clubs. If you call them and ask for a pard they will probably be able to get you one. Just be aware that many of the "Intermediate" pards (judged by having 0 - 50 MP) may not be all that good. Don't expect them to know a lot of the "neat" bidding tricks you see here in the forums, else your advanced cue bid will be passed, and you will play in a 4-2 fit

In my experience the first time in a club it does not matter much who you are paired with and because they want to keep you you are not going to be paired with the most evil guy around. After a few times people will notice your playing strength and you will get the right kind of partners.

My guess is Long Island. The correct abbreviation for Louisiana is LA.

Yes, Long Island. I think you're overestimating the distance thing. Look... It's only about 30 minutes from JFK to the club. You can catch the red eye, Sleep on the plane, and be at the club in plenty of time for a noon game. WTP?
