There is a "pick the winner" contest for the Cavendish at http://contest.blastpromo.com/cgi-bin/cave...idge07/home.cgi. $1000 to the winner (and 100,000 in case you pick the correct top five in correct order).

To have a winner among ourselves and see how (badly) everyone else is doing, I created a group BBF. As password I used the name of a well-known yellow and BBO web-page admin who is always responsible for kicking us out of BBO in case of maintenance reboots, and who is always helpful in reply to questions about Linux (but whose name doesn't start with U).

I guess my winnings will be higher B)

I'm betting a pair from Beijing will win this Cavendish.

Here's my bet

1. Jie Zhao - Fu Zhong
2. Antonio Sementa - Agustin Madala
3. Bobby Levin - Steve Weinstein
4. Tom Hanlon - Hugh McGann
5. Fred Gitelman - Brad Moss

(Fred, I hope that you've been practicing... If not, let me know and I'll pick up Gromov - Dubinin)

Playing are Fantoni, Sementa and Versace.

Any established top Italian partnership would probably sell for too much anyway. I don't think they would like to bet 10% of $70,000 on themselves.

I pick Justin Lall for a solid 22nd place finish. In the mini event I pick myself for a solid 21st. My superiority over him will once again be proven.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Cav's top5 or top4 in correct order? To meet flamingos at the North Pole is more likely than to guess it. ;)

I hope somebody from BBF will cash these 1000 bucks>>>>GL for all! :)

One of the pairs I picked were Bjorn Fallenius and Roy Welland, who were in the drop-down selection list, and also were pair 18 in the list of participants.

After the first session, we have:
3 1389.00 01-22 Bjorn Fallenius - Richard Schwartz
52 -1017.00 01-14 Roy Welland - Chris Willenken

There were more differences between contest list and the real line up.
for example, Gromov-Dubnin & Balicki-Zmudzinski don't participate in the event.

yes sometimes pairs don't show up, thats why you have first and second alternates.

BTW...LUCK NEEDED NOW. Every hand today was a grand or slam and we kept getting boned...

Since he was posting on bbo forums at 7 hours before game time (in another thread) we have to hope that the event sponsors did not enforce the curfew.

Justin, exciting board on #15 where you took the double finesse in 5X The Vugraph commentators were picking that you would not guess the 's so it was extra nice when you did. Did you hear the cheer? :)

Good luck man! Have a great last session and storm in to the big $$$. Madala's 6th place is not far away, after all.
