Tirred of specifying "the same" many times when creating FD files, e.g. that the same structure applies after 2♣-2♦-2NT as after 2NT?

I have written a java applet that allows you to expand symmetry in FD files. For example, if you want all continuations after
002N
to be mirrored as continuations of
002CP2DP2N
you specify
002N>002CP2DP2N

By the same token, if system is on after a 1NT opening get doubled, you specify
001NP>001ND

You can specify multiple symmetry rules in the same run.

For some reason, the applet does not work as embedded in the HTML file, at least not on my computer (apparently I haven't managed to install JRE succesfully). If it doesn't work, you can download the zipped java source and run it locally.

You may want to consider transformations as well. Some sequences may be identical except for switching ♥ and ♠, for example. This comes up a lot in relay systems. I view the possible auctions as a tree and there are many cases where sub-trees are identical except for transformations relating to suits or strength. This is very useful for relay systems and probably less useful for non-relay systems but it still may have some uses.

Yes, what I've done until now is what you could also do with a simple search-and replace.

One transformation that I think would be usefull for relay systems is step responses. For example, it could be that the follow-up after
1♣-(pass)-1♥(♦)-(pass)
1♠®
is "identical" to
1♦(♦)-(pass)-1♥®

Nice job -- but isn't this done already with copy/paste in bidedit? (Sorry if I misremember...)

No, copy/paste only works at the same number of bidding rounds, i.e. in SEF
2♣-2♦
2NT-....
---->
2♦-2♥
2NT-....
