I picked up
void
Qxx
10xxxx
J10xxx
in first seat. This was a pickup team game, unknown partner, all red.
I passed, lho passed, then it went,
1♣-(1♠)-2♣*-(2♠)-3♣-(3♠)-4♣*-(X)
*these calls were by me and the subject of discussion.
Partner made 4♣X and they were cold for game in ♠.
So, did I get lucky? I'm sure some of you would find a way to open the hand, but assuming an initial pass, I'd like to hear what you folks would do with those cards.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy - but it might improve my bridge.

2C is clear, and 4C with respect to the spade void
as well.
you are just following the law.

I would have bid 3 or 4 clubs the first time round. I'm not a fan of walking the dog...

you are right .-), but playing with an
unknown partner, I can understand 2C
followed by 4C.

I like your bidding, also. Informing the opponents about the length of your lower-ranking fit often simply helps the opponents. Similarly, advertising weakness accomplishes the same bad result. I would not call your calls "walking the dog," instead referring to it as protection of information advantage. Nice auction, well rewarded.

And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."
