I am off for two weeks holiday in the sun at the end of August.

I usually read about 5 novels, whilst I am sat on the beach or by the pool.

This year I want to take only 3 bridge books with me.

What would you take with you and why ?

3 bridge books are good for 4-5 hours of reading only.

Take some 15-20 bridge books :)

You are not going to a bridge festival in the sun?

I'd take Adventures in Card Play - until you understood that fully your vacation is over :) At least that's how I felt reading that.

Play a Swiss Teams of Four with Mike Lawrence - see how the expert thinks on everyday hands. The 'over the shoulder' style is excellent.

Why You Lose at Bridge (Skid Simon) - tactics for playing in a mixed skill environment, amusing and valuable advice for all.

Bridge with the Blue Team (Forquet) - marvel at the exploits of the best team ever. Extremely readable and a book you can dip into.

Of course, if all you do on vacation is read bridge books then you may need to take Bachelor Bridge (Bird & Cocheme) :)

I don't work for BBO and any advice is based on my BBO experience over the decades

"Tops and Bottoms" by the Granovetters. It's the funniest bridge book I've read.

From http://www.bridgetod...books_humor.php :

Included are 52 real-life stories of tops and bottoms. How did Marty Cohn go down 8 redoubled in two notrump? Why did Andy Bernstein get a top for just following suit? How did Sidney Lazard bid and make four hearts on a 4-1 fit? What was the story behind the opening lead that cost $50,000.00? How did Dick Frey lose a Spingold match while travelling on the Long Island Railroad? Why did Paul Heitner get a bottom for bidding and making a doubled slam? Every tale of triumph or disaster is followed by a post mortem dialogue between Matthew and Pamela Granovetter.
My name is Winkle.

Why bother to read. Go somewhere with internet and play at BBO.
